What Gun for What Situation

How do you select a firearm for different situations?

The key is threat assessments, that is, what threats are likely, and how do you want to resolve that threat? In this picture, I'm camping in Pennsylvania, far off from other folk. My concern is keeping myself and my comrades safe from potentially dangerous animals. This Smith and Wesson Model 19 .357 on my hip gives me more stopping power against animals than 9mm, but at a better weight to carry than a .44 magnum.

On the flip side, when I'm camping in different areas that are more populated and more - confederate- as a trans person camping with other trans people, the threat I'm concerned about is other people rather than animals. When that is the case I camp with a concealed Glock 17.
