Check your mods

Do you modify your gun? While after market modifications can be a great aid in the comfort and shootability of your gun its important to make sure you function test your gun at the range, especially if you are carrying it.

Not log ago, I got a new slide for my Gen 4 Glock 17 so I could mount an optic. With my new slide, I got a new slide parts get. While testing at the range I found I was getting light strikes maybe 3 or 4 times a range day. At first I thought the parts needed to break in, but yesterday as the problems continued I suspected an issue with the parts. Sure enough, when I inspected the firing pin assembly to compare it to my OEM part, I found the new striker was just every so slightly shorter than the original Glock part.

The moral of this story is to be careful with aftermarket modifications when your life is on the line. Test your equipment, inspect your parts.
